Erskine College

Founded in 1839, Erskine proudly holds the distinction of being the first four-year church-related college in South Carolina. Initially an academy for men, the college welcomed women starting in 1894 and officially became coeducational in 1899. It further expanded its reach through significant mergers with Due West Female College in 1927 and Bryson College in 1929, strengthening its academic offerings and community. The college recently celebrated 175 years as a Christian academic community, and in the 2022–2023 school year, achieved an all-time high enrollment of 830 undergraduate and 137 graduate seminary students, reflecting its continued appeal and vitality.

Erskine College's commitment to academic excellence and institutional integrity is unwavering. Following accreditation reviews, the college proactively addressed concerns, leading to the reaffirmation of its regional accreditation in January 2025, with all sanctions removed.
