Everett Community College

Everett Community College, established in 1941, stands as a cornerstone of public higher education in Washington State. As a thriving community college, EvCC proudly serves a diverse student body of nearly 12,000 individuals, guided by President Chemene Crawford. Its long-standing presence reflects a deep commitment to accessible and quality learning opportunities for its community.

EvCC's journey began as Everett Junior College, with its first classes held in a converted elementary school. The institution quickly grew, leading to the construction of a dedicated campus in north Everett, which opened its doors in 1958 with seven initial buildings. This expansion marked a significant step in providing modern educational facilities, and the college officially embraced its current name, Everett Community College, in 1967, aligning with the broader state community college system.

A testament to its enduring spirit, the college faced a devastating arson fire in 1987 that destroyed its library and main student services building and tragically claimed the life of firefighter Gary Parks. Yet, from this tragedy, EvCC demonstrated remarkable resilience. A new library and service building, dedicated to Parks, rose from the ashes and opened just over a year later, symbolizing the college's unwavering commitment to its students and the community. This event, resolved decades later with the culprit's confession in 2021, highlights the profound impact EvCC has had on the lives around it.
