Everglades University

Everglades University, established in 1999, stands as a private institution rooted in its guiding motto: "Sapientia Veritas Integritas"—Wisdom, Truth, Integrity. From its origins as American Flyers College, the university has evolved into a key educational provider in Florida, dedicated to fostering a learning environment that prioritizes ethical conduct and academic rigor for its students.

The university's journey began in 1990 as American Flyers College, later purchased in 1998 and rebranded as Everglades College in 1999. It quickly transitioned into a not-for-profit corporation, securing its 501(c)(3) status and independent operation by 2002. This early foundation set the stage for strategic expansion, including the opening of branch campuses in Sarasota and Orlando in the early 2000s, and a significant relocation of its main campus to Boca Raton in 2004, solidifying its presence across the state.

Academically, Everglades University achieved a significant milestone in 2010 when it earned accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award both bachelor's and master's degrees. This accreditation was reaffirmed for a decade in 2015, underscoring its commitment to quality education. Beyond its own growth, the university's parent company made a notable move in 2011 by acquiring Keiser University, transitioning it into a non-profit college and expanding its educational footprint.

In more recent history, Everglades University was identified in a 2022 U.S. Department of Education settlement related to student loan borrowers. While the university, alongside others, voiced objections regarding the basis of its inclusion, the Supreme Court affirmed the settlement in 2023. This event marks a specific point in the institution's history, reflecting the broader landscape of higher education and regulatory oversight, as the university continues its mission to provide career-focused education.
