Feather River Community College District

Feather River Community College District (FRCCD) stands as a beacon of higher education in rural Plumas County, California. Since its founding, it has been dedicated to providing accessible and quality learning opportunities. Embodying its inspiring motto, "Small college, mountains of opportunity," FRCCD offers a personalized and supportive environment for approximately 1600 students, fostering academic growth and community engagement.

Established in 1968, Feather River College initially addressed the critical need for local higher education. It made a significant move to its permanent campus in Quincy in April 1971, solidifying its presence. A pivotal moment in its history came in July 1988, when the college successfully de-annexed from the distant Peralta Community College District. This achievement marked its independence, transforming FRCCD into a locally controlled institution deeply rooted in and responsive to the community it serves.

Under the leadership of President Kevin Trutna, FRCCD continues its mission as a public community college.
