Ferrum College

Nestled in the picturesque foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Ferrum, Virginia, Ferrum College stands as a private institution with a rich history of service and educational opportunity. Established in 1913 by the United Methodist Church, Ferrum has evolved into a vibrant academic community offering over 54 undergraduate majors and four graduate programs to approximately 800 undergraduate and graduate students. Its commitment to a holistic educational experience is underscored by its beautiful 700-acre rural campus, which provides a unique setting for learning and growth.

Ferrum College's journey began as the "Ferrum Training School," founded with the noble mission to provide primary and secondary education to underprivileged youth in rural Southwest Virginia. Guided by the motto "Non sibi sed aliis" (Not Self, But Others), the institution gradually expanded its offerings, transitioning through various names like Ferrum Junior College before becoming the comprehensive college it is today.
