Fisher College

Fisher College, a private institution nestled in the vibrant heart of Boston, has been a beacon of opportunity for over a century. Since its founding in 1903, it has been dedicated to providing accessible, career-focused education, evolving from a local business college into a comprehensive institution offering associate, bachelor's, and master's degrees. The college's rich history began in Somerville, Massachusetts, as the Winter Hill Business College. Founders Myron C. Fisher and Edmund H. Fisher envisioned a path for immigrants to advance beyond unskilled labor, laying the groundwork for a legacy of upward mobility. The college later moved to its iconic Beacon Street location in Boston in 1939, a site so historically significant it's featured on the Boston Women's Heritage Trail. Through the decades, Fisher adapted, even operating as separate schools for men and women in the 1940s.

Fisher's academic journey saw it recognized as a two-year college in 1952 and granted degree-granting powers just five years later. By 1970, it achieved accreditation from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, solidifying its standing as an independent, non-profit institution. Embracing innovation, Fisher launched online courses and degrees in 1998, and expanded its offerings to include its first bachelor's degree in Management in 1999, followed by its inaugural Master of Business Administration program in 2015, focusing on strategic leadership.

Today, under the leadership of President Steven Rich, Fisher College continues its tradition of fostering an inclusive learning environment. It serves a diverse population, including traditional and adult learners through its Division of Graduate and Professional Studies established in 1975.
