Flint Hills Technical College

Flint Hills Technical College (FHTC) stands as a vital institution dedicated to preparing students for successful careers through practical, hands-on technical education. Situated in the scenic Flint Hills region, FHTC is a career-focused hub, equipping its graduates with the in-demand skills necessary to thrive in today's workforce. Prospective students and their families will find a clear pathway to employment, designed to meet the evolving needs of various industries.

The college's journey began in 1963, established by the Emporia School District with a vision for specialized vocational training. This foundational period laid the groundwork for decades of growth and adaptation. A significant milestone occurred in July 1999, when FHTC was transferred to the oversight of the Kansas Board of Regents, signifying its integral role within the state's higher education system. This transition solidified its standing and commitment to quality technical instruction.

Further demonstrating its maturity and autonomy, FHTC officially separated from the Emporia School District in 2004, marking a new chapter of independent operation under the Kansas Board of Regents. Today, the college continues its mission of delivering relevant academic strengths focused on career readiness. Students at FHTC engage in targeted programs that blend theoretical knowledge with extensive practical experience, ensuring they are not just academically prepared, but also job-ready from day one.
