Florida College

Florida College stands as a distinctive private institution, nurturing students through its motto, "Learning, Living, Leading His Way." With a close-knit community of 591 students, the college has carved out a unique identity, particularly within the Churches of Christ, by steadfastly advocating for non-institutionalism. This commitment means the college operates solely on individual donations and student tuition, proudly refusing financial support from churches, fostering a strong sense of self-reliance and community among its supporters.

Rooted in a rich history, Florida College's campus occupies historic land in Temple Terrace, Florida, along the Hillsborough River. Its main building, Sutton Hall, was originally built in 1922 as a golf and country club clubhouse, designed by renowned architect M. Leo Elliott. The campus's evolution from the Florida Bible Institute in the late 1930s to Florida Christian College in 1946, and finally Florida College in 1963, reflects a journey of adapting its name while maintaining its core principles and dedication to a specific theological stance.

Initially serving as a training ground for men seeking to become preachers in the non-institutional Churches of Christ, the college broadened its recruitment policies in the 1960s, though it continues to attract a significant portion of its student body from within that faith tradition. Florida College gained full accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1954, a testament to its academic rigor and institutional integrity, reaffirmed most recently in 2017. Under the leadership of its sixth president, John B.
