Florida Gateway College

The college's story is one of remarkable transformation, beginning in 1947 as the Columbia Forestry School, utilizing facilities from a decommissioned World War II naval air station. Its early days saw it evolve into the University of Florida Forest Ranger School before taking its pivotal role in Florida's statewide education master plan in 1961 as Lake City Junior College. This period marked a significant expansion, including the replacement of original wooden structures with modern brick buildings after a fire, solidifying its presence and commitment to quality infrastructure.
