Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University

Nestled in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University, affectionately known as FranU, offers a vibrant and faith-based academic journey deeply rooted in the Catholic tradition. Founded in 1923 as Our Lady of the Lake College, FranU is proudly sponsored by the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady, North American Province, and uniquely owned by Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. This connection provides students with an unparalleled blend of academic rigor and real-world healthcare insight, making it a compelling choice for those aspiring to make a difference in health and service.

FranU is celebrated for its comprehensive academic offerings, spanning associate, bachelor's, master's, and even doctoral degrees. The university's academic strengths are particularly evident in its health-focused programs, a dedication solidified by a major reorganization in 2007. This led to the establishment of the School of Arts, Sciences and Health Professions and the School of Nursing, ensuring specialized and high-quality education in critical healthcare fields. For prospective students, this means access to cutting-edge curricula and dedicated faculty committed to excellence.

With an intimate enrollment of approximately 1,228 students, FranU fosters a close-knit and supportive community where individual growth is prioritized. Students benefit from a campus environment that emphasizes compassionate care and service, aligning with its Franciscan values. The journey from Our Lady of the Lake College to its current university status in 2016 reflects a continuous evolution and commitment to expanding educational opportunities, all while maintaining its founding mission to educate ethical, compassionate, and skilled professionals.
