Garrett College's journey began in 1966 as Garrett Community College, a foundational step in bringing higher education closer to its community. The institution officially welcomed its first students in 1971 after the acquisition of its McHenry, Maryland site and subsequent campus construction. Over the decades, Garrett College, which adopted its current name in 2002, has continuously evolved, consistently investing in state-of-the-art facilities and innovative programs to meet the changing needs of its students and the wider region.

Today, Garrett College boasts a modern campus equipped with impressive facilities designed to enhance both academic and student life. The 42,500-square-foot Community Aquatic and Recreation Complex (CARC), completed in 2012, offers a six-lane competition swimming pool, a fully equipped fitness center, and multi-use spaces, promoting health and wellness.
