Genesee Community College

Genesee Community College, an integral part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system, began its journey in 1966, officially opening its doors to students on September 27, 1967. From its early days, GCC has been dedicated to providing accessible and quality education, growing alongside its community to meet evolving student needs. This commitment is reflected in its continuous expansion and the development of specialized facilities designed to foster learning and engagement.

The college has seen significant development over the decades, strategically adding facilities that bolster its academic and student life offerings. The addition of the Stuart Steiner Theatre in 1991 provided a dedicated space for the arts, complete with a theater and expanded classrooms. Further enhancing its academic prowess, the 42,000-square-foot Conable Technology Building, completed in 2000, became the central hub for GCC's technological programs, equipped with modern apparatus to prepare students for the demands of the digital age.

Beyond academics, Genesee Community College prioritizes a vibrant student experience. The Wolcott J. Humphrey III Student Union, added in 2006, serves as a central location for student affairs and organizations, fostering a strong sense of community. The college also extended its reach with a state-of-the-art 9,000-square-foot campus center in Lima, completed in 2009, featuring advanced computer and science labs, alongside modern classrooms. This expansion underscores GCC's dedication to providing cutting-edge resources and support for a diverse and growing student body, ensuring a dynamic and enriching educational environment for all.
