Gould's Academy

The academy's journey began in 1835 as Bethel High School, quickly gaining a charter as Bethel Academy the following year. A pivotal moment arrived in 1843 when Reverend Daniel Gould bequeathed his fortune, stipulating the school be named in his honor – thus, Gould's Academy was born. For decades, particularly until 1969 when Telstar High School opened, Gould Academy uniquely served as the town of Bethel's public high school, educating all local children and deeply embedding itself in the community's fabric.

Beyond its rich history, Gould Academy has consistently strived for academic excellence, earning accreditation from the prestigious New England Association of Schools and Colleges in 1936.
