Green River College

The college's journey began modestly in 1945 as an adult evening education program within the Auburn School District. Its potential was recognized in 1963 when it was approved to become a community college, officially launching its technical and professional programs in September 1964. Originally situated near the Auburn Boeing plant, the college quickly established its roots, relocating to its current expansive campus on Lea Hill the following year, setting the stage for decades of growth and community impact.

A pivotal moment in its modern history occurred in 2014 when it officially changed its name from Green River Community College to Green River College, reflecting its expanded academic scope and the new Bachelor of Applied Sciences degrees. This commitment to educational advancement was further highlighted on April 22, 2022, when Green River College proudly hosted U.S. President Joe Biden. The President delivered a key address on his administration's vision for lowering costs for American families, an event held in the Mel Lindbloom Student Union Building, underscoring the college's growing national significance and its role in important public discourse.
