Hannibal-LaGrange University

Hannibal-LaGrange University stands as a private Christian institution, guided by its inspiring motto, "Scientia ad serviendum" – "Knowledge for Service." With a close-knit community of 494 students, HLGU offers an intimate educational experience rooted in its mission to develop students spiritually, intellectually, and professionally. The university's rich history traces back to 1858 with the founding of the LaGrange Male and Female Seminary, which later became LaGrange College. The institution as we know it today was forged in 1928 through the significant merger of LaGrange College and Hannibal College, creating a unified educational powerhouse. In 2010, the institution solidified its identity as Hannibal-LaGrange University, reaffirming its commitment to comprehensive education within a Christian framework, a commitment underscored by its Title IX exception in 2015.

Despite recent challenges, including financial pressures exacerbated by the pandemic, Hannibal-LaGrange University has demonstrated remarkable resilience.
