Harford Community College

Harford Community College stands as a vibrant public institution dedicated to serving Harford County and beyond. With a substantial student body of 20,000, HCC provides accessible and engaging educational opportunities, preparing students for further academic pursuits or direct entry into the workforce. Under the leadership of President Theresa B. Felder, the college continues its mission of fostering growth and development within the community.

Rooted deeply in local history, HCC began its journey in September 1957 as "Harford Junior College." Its humble origins saw 116 students attending classes in the basement of Bel Air High School. Rapid growth was evident as enrollment climbed to 354 students by 1961. This expansion necessitated a move to its current, dedicated campus east of Bel Air in 1964, solidifying its presence and commitment to the region. The institution officially embraced its broader mission, being renamed "Harford Community College" in 1971, aligning with the nationwide shift in the junior college movement.

Throughout its history, HCC has demonstrated a strong commitment to enhancing its facilities and educational environment. The mid-1990s marked a period of significant expansion, introducing a new library, Fallston Hall, Edgewood Hall, additional parking, and an enhanced baseball sports facility.
