Harford Community College

Harford Community College (HCC) stands as a vibrant public community college, deeply rooted in the educational landscape of Harford County. Known for its significant growth and commitment to local learners, HCC provides an accessible pathway to higher education, fostering both academic achievement and community engagement. Under the leadership of President Theresa B. Felder, the college continues its tradition of serving a diverse student body, currently numbering 20,000.

The college's rich history began in September 1957 as "Harford Junior College," operating out of the basement of Bel Air High School with an inaugural class of 116 students. Its rapid appeal was evident as enrollment soared to 354 within just four years. This early success paved the way for a pivotal move in 1964 to its expansive current location east of Bel Air, laying the groundwork for its evolution and eventual renaming in 1971 to "Harford Community College," aligning with the nationwide shift towards a community-focused educational model.

Demonstrating a continuous commitment to enhancing the student experience, HCC embarked on a significant expansion in the mid-1990s. This period saw the addition of crucial new facilities, including a modern library, Fallston Hall, Edgewood Hall, and expanded parking lots, alongside an upgraded baseball sports facility. These developments reflect HCC's dedication to providing a contemporary and supportive environment, ensuring students have access to the resources they need to thrive academically and personally.
