Haven University

Haven University stands as a distinguished private institution with a rich heritage rooted in theological education. Since its founding, it has been dedicated to fostering intellectual and spiritual growth, preparing a diverse body of students for leadership and service. Under the current guidance of Chancellor Kang Won Lee and President Joshua Smith, the university continues its mission, building on decades of educational excellence.

Established in 1969 as The California Graduate School of Theology, Haven University began its journey through the visionary efforts of William S. McBirnie, an ordained Southern Baptist pastor, educator, and author. He was joined by psychologist George Crane and Robert Grant. The institution officially opened its doors in 1970, setting up its initial campus facilities and library on the grounds of the United Community Church in Glendale, California, laying the groundwork for its enduring legacy.

Over the years, the university has evolved, undergoing strategic relocations to accommodate its growth and vision, including a significant period on the campus of the Crystal Cathedral under past President Lawrence Wilkes, before settling into its current home. With an impressive network of over 6,000 alumni, Haven University is a testament to its profound impact, fostering a strong community of graduates who contribute across various fields, embodying the university's commitment to impactful scholarship and leadership.
