Hebrew College

Founded in November 1921 as the Hebrew Teachers College, Hebrew College has long been a vital institution in American Jewish education. Initially committed to the Hebraist model of teacher training, with all classes taught in Hebrew, it quickly became a significant center for Jewish learning. Over the decades, it expanded its reach, moving beyond its initial focus to embrace broader Hebrew cultural programs and engage the wider community through pioneering adult education initiatives like the Me'ah program.

Hebrew College’s history is marked by a dynamic evolution, adapting to the changing landscape of Jewish studies while maintaining its core mission.
