Hebrew Theological College

Hebrew Theological College (HTC) is a distinguished private Yeshiva rooted in Modern Orthodox principles, yet embracing a diverse student body from Haredi and Hasidic backgrounds. HTC is renowned for its unique dual mission: meticulously preparing students for formal roles as Jewish educators and training eligible candidates to achieve semikhah, or rabbinical ordination. Established in Chicago in 1921 by visionary leaders Chaim Tzvi Rubinstein and Saul Silber, HTC quickly became a significant institution in American Jewish higher education. Silber served as president for the first 25 formative years, laying the groundwork for its enduring legacy. The college later relocated to the vibrant northern Chicago suburb of Skokie in 1958, solidifying its presence as a key educational hub in the region.
