Heidelberg University

Heidelberg University, officially the Ruprecht Karl University of Heidelberg, stands as Germany's oldest and one of the world's most enduring universities, founded in 1386. With its motto "Semper apertus" (Always open), it was established on the instruction of Pope Urban VI, modeled after the ancient University of Paris. Located in Heidelberg, Baden-Württemberg, it quickly became a beacon of learning in the Holy Roman Empire and has maintained its reputation for excellence through centuries, shaping intellectual discourse and scientific progress.

The university is recognized as a German Excellence University and a founding member of prestigious European research networks like the League of European Research Universities (LERU) and the Coimbra Group.
