HFC's rich history began in 1938 as Fordson Junior College, founded by the Dearborn Fordson Public Schools Board of Education. Initially holding classes in the basement of Fordson High School, the institution evolved, changing its name to Dearborn Junior College in 1946. A significant milestone occurred in 1952 when it was renamed Henry Ford Community College (HFCC), incorporating assets from the esteemed Henry Ford Trade School. This enduring legacy culminated in its present identity, Henry Ford College, adopted in 2014, reflecting its continuous growth and expanded offerings.

Today, HFC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, ensuring a robust and recognized educational experience. For prospective students and families, HFC provides an excellent pathway, supporting over 17,000 students annually, with approximately 13,000 enrolled each semester. The college offers a comprehensive curriculum, from foundational courses in math, English, and foreign languages housed in the Walter P.
