Heritage University

Nestled in Washington, Heritage University stands as a testament to enduring educational commitment, a private institution that has nurtured nearly a thousand students (991, to be exact) in its vibrant community. The university's rich history begins in 1907, when it was established as Holy Names College in Spokane by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. Over the years, it evolved, first changing its name to Fort Wright College. A pivotal moment arrived in 1982 when the institution embraced a new chapter, moving its administration to Toppenish and rebranding as Heritage College. This strategic relocation marked a significant step in shaping the university's identity and its commitment to serving new communities, even as it operated in Omak and briefly maintained its Spokane campus.

By 1987, the university's focus solidified entirely in its new homes, leading to the closure of the Spokane campus. Heritage University has also faced and overcome challenges, demonstrating remarkable resilience. A notable instance occurred on July 8, 2012, when a fire tragically destroyed Petrie Hall, one of the university's oldest and most cherished buildings.
