The institution's story began in 1907 when it was founded as Holy Names College in Spokane by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary. Over time, it underwent a significant transformation, changing its name to Fort Wright College. A pivotal moment in its history occurred in 1982 when Fort Wright College moved its administration to Toppenish and was rebranded as Heritage College, expanding its reach to Omak while maintaining its Spokane campus temporarily.
