Howard Community College

Howard Community College, established in 1966, stands as a cornerstone of education in Maryland, proudly upholding its motto: "Meeting students where they dream." The college's journey began with its formal authorization in 1967 as Maryland's 14th community college, building upon a rich history of its unique location. By October 1970, the first classes commenced in what is now the James Clark Jr. Library Hall, marking the start of its educational mission with 10 dedicated full-time faculty and over 600 students enrolled in nine credit programs. This foundational period laid the groundwork for HCC's continuous growth and evolving commitment to academic excellence.
