Illinois Valley Community College

Illinois Valley Community College (IVCC) stands as a cornerstone of education in the Illinois Valley, dedicated to laying the groundwork for successful careers since its inception. Originally established in 1924 as LaSalle-Peru-Oglesby Junior College, it began its journey with a pioneering class of 32 students, housed within the LaSalle-Peru Township High School. The college's initial mission was clear and impactful: to provide students with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for thriving professional lives.

A significant transformation occurred on July 1, 1966, when the institution proudly adopted its current name, Illinois Valley Community College, better reflecting the expansive region it serves. This rebranding was swiftly followed by a monumental relocation in the fall of 1968. Thanks to an overwhelming $8.25 million referendum approved by District 513 members, IVCC moved to its modern campus, strategically situated across the Illinois River from its original home. The inaugural courses commenced in this new, state-of-the-art facility in September 1968, marking a new era of growth and community engagement.

Today, with a vibrant student body of 2,687, IVCC continues its legacy as a vital community college.
