Indian River State College (IRSC), affectionately known as "The River," is a dynamic public institution that has been a cornerstone of education on Florida's Treasure Coast since 1959. From its humble beginnings as Indian River Junior College, operating out of a single building, IRSC has undergone a remarkable transformation. After relocating to its expansive Fort Pierce campus in 1963 and merging with Lincoln Junior College in 1965 to promote integration, the institution steadily grew its footprint across Indian River, Martin, Okeechobee, and St. Lucie counties. Its evolution from a junior college to Indian River Community College in 1970, and finally to Indian River State College in 2008, reflects its expanded academic scope and transition to a four-year institution offering bachelor's degrees.
