About Interactive College of Technology
Interactive College of Technology: Over 40 years of career-focused education and growth.
For over four decades, Interactive College of Technology (ICT) has been a steadfast institution dedicated to providing practical, career-focused education. What began as Akers Computerized Learning Centers in Athens, Georgia, in 1982, has evolved into a dynamic college known for equipping students with the skills needed to thrive in various industries. ICT prides itself on a hands-on learning approach, preparing individuals directly for the demands of the modern workforce.
The institution's journey is marked by significant expansion and transformation. After its founding, ICT rapidly grew, adding five more campuses between 1983 and 1986, including a key location in Dallas, Texas. The acquisition by Interactive Learning Systems in 1986 ushered in a new era, with Elmer Smith taking the helm as president—a position he has held consistently since. This period also saw further growth with new campuses established in Houston, Texas, and Kentucky. The organization was officially renamed Interactive College of Technology in 1996, and its main campus relocated to Chamblee, Georgia, signifying its commitment to a broader educational mission.
Looking to the future, ICT continues to innovate its academic offerings and student pathways. In 2021, the college solidified a strategic relationship with National American University, providing ICT students with an invaluable opportunity to seamlessly pursue and complete bachelor's degrees. This partnership underscores ICT's dedication to fostering continuous learning and advanced career development, ensuring its graduates are well-prepared for both immediate employment and long-term academic aspirations.
