Interdenominational Theological Center

The Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) stands as a beacon of collaborative theological education, uniquely founded to train and develop African-American Christian ministers. Born from the visionary idea in the early 1940s that individual theological schools could achieve more by working together, ITC was officially established in 1958 as a groundbreaking joint initiative. It brought together four historically Black seminaries: Morehouse School of Religion, Gammon Theological Seminary, Turner Theological Seminary, and Phillips School of Theology, each representing a distinct denominational heritage.

This collaborative spirit fostered a dynamic environment where students could engage with a rich tapestry of Christian traditions, preparing them for diverse ministries. The institution quickly earned accreditation from the American Association of Theological Schools, cementing its reputation for academic rigor and commitment to excellence. With initial financial backing from the Sealantic Fund, ITC built its own facilities and began shaping generations of spiritual leaders.
