About International Academy of Style
A global academy celebrating and advancing excellence in television arts worldwide.
The International Academy of Style stands as a premier global institution dedicated to recognizing outstanding achievements and fostering collaboration within the dynamic world of television. While initially operating under the umbrella of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, the Academy quickly developed its own distinct board and a powerful global focus. Established in 1969, it unites leading media and entertainment figures from over 500 companies across 60 countries, all committed to elevating content produced beyond the United States, as well as non-English language programming made for American audiences.
At the heart of the Academy's mission is the prestigious International Emmy Awards Gala, a landmark event held annually each November in Midtown Manhattan. This star-studded gathering attracts over 1,200 television professionals, celebrating the best of international television. Complementing the Gala, the International Emmy World Television Festival provides a unique platform, screening the year's nominated programs and offering invaluable insights from the producers and directors behind the acclaimed work.
Demonstrating its commitment to a broad spectrum of television excellence, the Academy expanded its recognition in 1999 with the Emmy Awards for Current Affairs & News, honoring exceptional international news coverage. Further broadening its scope, the International Emmy Kids Awards were launched in 2013, with its own annual ceremony each February in New York City. The Academy also champions global dialogue through its "International Academy Day" initiative, a high-level forum designed to foster collaboration and examine regional business models and cultural institutions within the ever-evolving global media ecosystem.
