The institute's journey began in 1987 as The Myomassethics Center, securing a commercial state license that laid the groundwork for its future. After five years, founder Irene Gauthier, alongside her daughter Kathy, reimagined the vision. In January 1993, they proudly opened Irene's Myomassology Institute, starting in a 3,000 square foot space in Southfield, Michigan. Their dedication quickly propelled the school's growth, necessitating multiple expansions at this initial site.

By 1999, the institute had already expanded to 8,000 square feet, yet the demand for more space was evident. This led to a significant milestone: Irene and Kathy purchased land in Southfield, meticulously navigating the rezoning process for an educational facility. Following a heartfelt ground blessing ceremony in the spring of 2000, construction began on a state-of-the-art campus. This culminated in the grand opening of a new, expansive 17,500 square foot facility on Franklin Road in May 2001.
