Itawamba Community College (ICC) stands as a testament to regional collaboration and accessible education, evolving from a local high school extension into a vibrant institution serving multiple Mississippi counties. The college's rich history began humbly in 1920 as an extension of Itawamba County Agricultural High School. Despite plans for college-level work being postponed by World War II, the vision persevered, culminating in the establishment of Itawamba Junior College in 1948. This marked a pivotal moment, with Itawamba, Lee, and Monroe counties uniting to support the new endeavor, later joined by Pontotoc and Chickasaw counties. This collaborative foundation underscores ICC's role as a true community asset, continually adapting to meet the educational needs of its region.

Today, ICC continues its legacy of expansion and modernization. Its Tupelo Campus, which started in vacant city buildings in 1963, has grown into an impressive complex of 11 buildings. Looking to the future, the college unveiled a 5-year plan in 2015 to further enhance the Tupelo campus, including the construction of a new academic building that will house classrooms, a cafeteria, and essential student services. This forward-thinking approach ensures that prospective students and their families can look forward to a modern, supportive, and engaging learning environment designed to help them thrive.
