Itawamba Community College

Itawamba Community College (ICC) stands as a testament to the power of community support and a dedication to educational advancement in Northeast Mississippi. Evolving from the roots of a prominent agricultural high school, ICC has consistently grown its mission to provide accessible, high-quality two-year college education. It's known for its deep ties to the surrounding counties, fostering an environment where students can build strong foundational academic skills and prepare for their futures.

The college's rich history began as an extension of Itawamba County Agricultural High School in 1920, with plans for a junior college curriculum set in motion before World War II. Despite wartime delays, the vision was realized when Itawamba, Lee, and Monroe counties united to support Itawamba Junior College, offering its first freshman curriculum in 1948-49. This cooperative spirit continued to flourish, with Pontotoc and Chickasaw counties later joining the effort, showcasing a profound regional commitment to student success. The college's expansion culminated in its transformation to Itawamba Community College in 1987, reflecting its comprehensive educational purpose.

Today, ICC provides a robust student experience across its multiple locations, including a significant presence in Tupelo. The Tupelo Campus, established in 1963, has steadily expanded from humble beginnings to a modern 11-building complex spanning 65,500 square feet. Looking ahead, ICC is committed to continuous improvement, evidenced by its ambitious 5-year plan announced in 2015. This plan includes demolishing older structures to build a new academic facility, complete with updated classrooms, a cafeteria, and enhanced student services, ensuring a dynamic and supportive learning environment for all prospective students and their families.
