James Sprunt Community College (JSCC) stands as a beacon of educational opportunity in its community, known for providing accessible and career-focused learning. James Sprunt, a pivotal figure, took the helm of Grove Academy in 1840, and by 1860, he also assumed the presidency of the Kenansville Seminary. While the seminary closed in 1896, the spirit of education endured, leading to the reopening as The James Sprunt Institute in 1960, ultimately evolving into the vibrant community college it is today, officially founded in 1860.
