Kent State University at Stark

Officially founded in 1946, Kent State University at Stark serves as a cornerstone of public higher education in Northeast Ohio, providing a vibrant and comprehensive educational experience as a key satellite campus within the esteemed Kent State system. While its formal establishment dates to the mid-20th century, the campus's roots trace back much further, with Kent State establishing extension centers in the Canton area as early as 1912, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to regional accessibility.

The campus truly came into its own with significant community and state backing. In 1965, the Ohio State legislature authorized a permanent campus and appropriated over $2 million for its construction. A dedicated citizens' committee swiftly selected an accessible location and, impressively, raised over $600,000 in additional financial support. Groundbreaking commenced in 1966, leading to the opening of Main Hall, the first facility, in the fall of 1967 – marking the beginning of a modern campus designed for student success.

Today, Kent State Stark boasts a well-developed and inviting campus, featuring seven major buildings, a tranquil pond and nature trail, and a bustling Campus Center designed for student life.
