What began as Keystone Academy, a pivotal high school serving the region between Binghamton, New York, and Scranton, Pennsylvania, has evolved into a vibrant learning community dedicated to student success. Over its rich history, Keystone College has continuously adapted to meet the evolving needs of its students. It transformed from a prominent academy to Scranton-Keystone Junior College in 1934, later becoming Keystone Junior College. The institution adopted its current name, Keystone College, in 1995, marking a significant expansion in its academic offerings. Since 1998, the college has proudly offered baccalaureate degree programs, further expanding to include master's degrees in 2014, demonstrating its commitment to advanced learning and diverse academic pathways.

While navigating recent complex challenges related to its accreditation and potential mergers, Keystone College has shown remarkable resilience and a steadfast commitment to its mission. In early 2025, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education officially withdrew its decision to cease accreditation, affirming Keystone College's strong standing and providing stability for its academic future.
