Labette Community College (LCC) stands as a foundational public institution in Kansas, proudly serving 1,446 students. LCC's rich history traces back to 1923 when it was established as Parsons Junior College. Initially a two-year extension of the Parsons Senior High School, it was crucial in adapting to Parsons' rapid growth fueled by the MKT Railroad. Its establishment addressed the burgeoning demand for a robust public school system, providing higher education opportunities in a growing community.

A significant evolution occurred in 1935 when the college reorganized into a unique four-year system, encompassing grades eleven through fourteen. Reflecting broader educational trends, Parsons Junior College transitioned in 1967 to Labette Community Junior College, distinguishing itself as a publicly funded local institution.
