LaGrange College

LaGrange College offers a rich history and a vibrant educational experience, rooted deeply in its origins as a women's academy. Founded initially as a high-school level institution, it quickly evolved, establishing itself on "the Hill," the highest geographical point in the city of LaGrange, in 1851. This scenic location provides a distinctive backdrop for learning and student life. Today, as an institution of the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church, LaGrange College continues its legacy of providing a values-based education.

The college's journey is marked by significant transformations. What began as the "LaGrange Female Institute" in 1847, empowered to confer degrees, became "LaGrange Female College" with a four-year curriculum by 1851. A pivotal moment arrived in 1953 when, after discussions dating back decades, the institution officially welcomed men, becoming fully coeducational. This evolution showcases LaGrange College's adaptability and commitment to broad educational access.

The college’s facilities saw a substantial expansion in 1992, thanks to a generous donation from the Callaway Foundation, effectively doubling its physical size. This growth brought significant enhancements, including Callaway Auditorium, the Callaway Education Building, and extensive athletic facilities like tennis courts, softball fields, and dedicated sites for baseball and soccer, alongside the impressive Charles D. Hudson Natatorium. This blend of historical depth, spiritual connection, and modern amenities creates an engaging environment for a diverse student body.
