Lakeland Community College

Born from the collective vision of Lake County residents in 1964, Lakeland Community College opened its doors in 1967, establishing itself as a vital public institution dedicated to local education and growth. What began with classes held in various Painesville locations quickly found a permanent home on a sprawling 400-acre campus in Kirtland by 1971. This campus, notably featuring the historic Mooreland Mansion, has since evolved into a dynamic learning environment, reflecting the community's enduring commitment to accessible higher education.

Lakeland has consistently invested in its future, evidenced by continuous campus development designed to support diverse academic pathways. Key additions include dedicated buildings for engineering (1983), business (1988), and a significantly expanded Health Technologies Building (reopened 2018), providing state-of-the-art facilities for hands-on learning. The Student Center (1993) and renovated Athletic and Fitness Center (2000) underscore a vibrant student experience, while the Holden University Center (2011) broadens opportunities for advanced studies and partnerships. Further extending its reach, Lakeland established extension campuses in Madison (1994) and Willowick (1997), ensuring educational access across Lake County.

Beyond academics, Lakeland boasts a rich connection to its community, even serving as the Cleveland Browns training camp site for nearly a decade. The historic Mooreland Mansion, meticulously renovated, continues to serve as a hub for community events, symbolizing the college's deep roots and ongoing engagement.
