Lakeview College of Nursing stands as a beacon of nursing excellence, rooted in a rich history stretching back to 1894. What began as the Danville Training School for Nurses, attached to Lakeview Hospital, quickly established itself as a cornerstone of healthcare education in the region, serving as the sole training institution for nurses for over two decades. This enduring commitment to nurturing skilled caregivers has shaped generations of nursing professionals.

From its initial two-year program to an expanded three-year diploma, and eventually evolving into an independent baccalaureate institution in 1988, Lakeview has consistently adapted to the highest standards of nursing education. Its journey saw key milestones, including state approval in 1911, the admission of its first male students in 1959, and national accreditation by the National League for Nursing in 1971.
