Landmark College

Landmark College, established in 1985, stands as a pioneering institution uniquely dedicated to students with learning disabilities and ADHD. Founded on the dormant campus of Windham College, it quickly carved out a reputation for its specialized approach to education. The college is renowned for its commitment to providing a supportive and structured environment where students can thrive academically and personally, even sharing its expertise on learning disabilities nationwide through a Title VII grant.

Over the years, Landmark College has continually invested in its facilities and academic programs to better serve its student body. Key developments include the opening of the Strauch Family Student Center in 1997, offering comprehensive student services, and the Chris Family Click Center in 2001, providing expanded recreation facilities. The college also initiated significant capital projects in 2004, including new academic and dining halls, and modern suite-style residences, enhancing the overall student experience.

Academically, Landmark College has evolved significantly, particularly under presidents like Peter A. Eden, who championed new degree programs in the sciences. The college introduced its first bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies in 2012, alongside associate's degrees in Computer Science and Life Science. Further solidifying its commitment to STEM, the state-of-the-art MacFarlane Building, a 28,500-square-foot science and technology center, opened in 2015. This focus on STEM was further bolstered by a $650K National Science Foundation grant in 2016, supporting scholarships and opportunities for students in its Computer Science and Biology programs.

With a current student body of 650, Landmark College continues its mission under President Jim Dlugos, focusing on tailored academic support and a vibrant campus life that includes robust recreational options and essential student services, all designed to foster independence and academic success for its unique population of learners.
