About Latin American Bible Institute

LABI College: A historic institution equipping the next generation of Latino leaders since 1926.

Latin American Bible Institute (LABI College) stands as a beacon for aspiring leaders, proudly dedicated to equipping the next generation of Latino leaders for impactful service. Since its founding, LABI has held a distinct and vital place in American history, recognized as one of the United States' oldest educational institutions specifically committed to serving the Hispanic community. This commitment stems from a rich legacy, fostering an environment where students can grow academically and spiritually to make a tangible difference in their communities and beyond.

The journey of LABI College began on October 1, 1926, through the visionary efforts of Miss Alice E. Luce, a former Anglican missionary, alongside Ralph and Richard Williams. Collaborating with the Glad Tidings Bible Institute, Miss Luce's unwavering dedication was to establish a Bible school meticulously tailored to the Hispanic community's unique needs. This pioneering spirit laid the groundwork for LABI-CA's enduring success, establishing a foundation focused on ministerial training and leadership development within this vital demographic.

Over the decades, the institution experienced remarkable growth, reflecting the increasing demand for its specialized training. This expansion necessitated two significant relocations, first from San Diego to La Mesa in 1935, and then to Los Angeles in 1941, to accommodate a burgeoning student body. Ultimately, the need for more extensive facilities led to the acquisition of land in La Puente, California, which proudly serves as the college's vibrant campus today. It was at this historic location that LABI College celebrated the graduation of its inaugural class in 1950, marking a significant milestone in its continuous journey of empowering students.
