About Latin American Bible Institute
Pioneering education for Latino leaders since 1926, fostering spiritual growth and community impact.
Latin American Bible Institute (LABI College) stands as a vital beacon for aspiring Latino leaders, proudly dedicated to equipping them for impactful service. Since its inception, it has held a unique and indispensable role in higher education, particularly noted for its profound focus on the Hispanic community and its mission to develop the next generation of spiritual leaders. LABI's commitment to its students goes beyond academic instruction, fostering a close-knit community where individuals are empowered to fulfill their calling.
With roots stretching back to 1926, LABI holds the distinct honor of being one of the United States' oldest educational institutions specifically committed to serving the Hispanic community. Its founding by the visionary Miss Alice E. Luce, in partnership with Ralph and Richard Williams, marked a pivotal moment, driven by her passion to create a dedicated Bible school for this growing population. This pioneering spirit led to significant growth, necessitating moves from San Diego to La Mesa, and then to Los Angeles, before establishing its permanent home in La Puente, California.
At LABI, students are immersed in an environment focused on rigorous ministerial training and spiritual formation. With a supportive and engaging community of 92 students, the college offers a personal and impactful setting under the leadership of President Dr. Marty Harris. LABI continues its legacy of developing leaders who are not only academically prepared but also spiritually grounded to make a profound difference in their communities and beyond, celebrating its first graduating class at the La Puente campus in 1950.
