Latin American Bible Institute

Latin American Bible Institute (LABI College) stands as a foundational institution with a rich legacy, dedicated to shaping the future of Latino leadership. Established in 1926, it holds the distinction of being one of the United States' oldest educational institutions specifically serving the Hispanic community. Driven by its powerful motto, "Equipping the next generation of Latino leaders," LABI College offers a transformative experience for students called to service and impact.

The college's inspiring journey began on October 1, 1926, thanks to the vision of Miss Alice E. Luce, a former Anglican missionary, who collaborated with Ralph and Richard Williams and the Glad Tidings Bible Institute. Miss Luce's unwavering commitment to creating a Bible school tailored for the Hispanic community laid the groundwork for LABI's enduring success. As the institution grew in prominence and student enrollment, it embarked on a series of relocations to accommodate its expanding mission.

Initially moving from San Diego to La Mesa in 1935, and then to Los Angeles in 1941 to meet the demands of a surging student body seeking ministerial training, LABI College consistently demonstrated its responsiveness to community needs. The increasing number of aspiring leaders highlighted the urgent need for a permanent and expansive home. This led to the acquisition of land in La Puente, California, which proudly serves as the college’s campus today.

A significant milestone was reached in 1950 when LABI College celebrated the graduation of its inaugural class at this new, purpose-built location, solidifying its presence and commitment to its students. Today, with a vibrant community of 92 students, LABI College continues its vital work under the leadership of President Dr. Marty Harris, maintaining its private institution status focused on fostering spiritual growth and academic excellence, preparing its graduates to lead with purpose and serve their communities effectively.
