Los Angeles Trade Technical College

Step into the legacy of Los Angeles Trade Technical College (LATTC), a dynamic public community college that has been a cornerstone of vocational education since its founding in 1925. As the oldest of the nine campuses within the Los Angeles Community College District, LATTC is dedicated to providing practical, career-focused training to its vibrant community of 16,766 students. Under the leadership of President Alfred McQuarters, the college continues its mission of preparing individuals for success in a wide range of essential trades and technical fields.

LATTC's rich history began as the Frank Wiggins Trade School, establishing itself in the Los Angeles Historic Core before evolving significantly. Following World War II, the institution expanded its reach by moving to the former campus of John H. Francis Polytechnic High School and merging with Metropolitan College, broadening its program offerings. A testament to its crucial role, during WWII, LATTC offered around-the-clock courses, empowering women with vocational skills to support the war effort—a pivotal contribution to both the community and the nation.

Renamed Los Angeles Trade–Technical Junior College in 1954 and integrated into the Los Angeles Community College District in 1969, LATTC boasts a proud tradition of academic strength. Notably, its fashion design program stands as the oldest in Los Angeles, having inspired creativity and skill since 1925.
