Louisiana State University-Alexandria (LSUA) offers a remarkable journey of academic expansion and commitment to its students. Established in 1959 as a two-year college, LSUA quickly evolved, registering its first students in 1960 and launching its inaugural degree program, an Associate in Nursing, by 1964. Over the decades, it progressively broadened its academic horizons, developing divisions in Liberal Arts, Business Administration, and Sciences, ultimately earning accreditation in 1974 to award associate degrees.

The early 2000s marked a pivotal transformation for LSUA. Following legislative approval in 2001 and subsequent accreditation in 2002, the university began offering its own baccalaureate degrees, producing its first bachelor's graduates in December 2003.
