Luna Community College

Luna Community College, a public community college founded in 1969, stands as a vital educational institution in New Mexico. Initially named the Luna Area Vocational Technical School, it proudly honors Captain Maximiliano Luna—a distinguished figure who served as Speaker of the New Mexico House of Representatives and a member of the Rough Riders. This commitment to its namesake's legacy continues to inspire the college's dedication to service and community growth, culminating in its renaming to Luna Community College in 2000.

Despite facing significant challenges related to accreditation in recent years, Luna Community College has demonstrated remarkable resilience and an unwavering commitment to its students. Through dedicated efforts, it successfully navigated periods of scrutiny from the Higher Learning Commission, emerging stronger with its probationary status definitively removed in 2020.
