The Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (LSTC) stands as a beacon of theological education, uniquely forged through a powerful history of institutional mergers. LSTC's story is one of dynamic evolution, beginning with the ambitious merger of four distinct seminaries – Augustana, Grand View, Chicago Lutheran, and Suomi – reflecting the broader unification of Lutheran church bodies. This foundational act in 1962, soon followed by the integration of Central Lutheran Theological Seminary and later Christ Seminary-Seminex, demonstrates LSTC’s role as a crucible for Lutheran thought and formation. From its early days in Rock Island and Maywood to the construction of its purpose-built Hyde Park campus, LSTC has always adapted to best serve its mission.

Today, LSTC continues its tradition of innovation in a brand-new, modern home within the Catholic Theological Union. This state-of-the-art facility, completed in 2023, boasts contemporary classrooms, advanced Zoom rooms, diverse office spaces, a serene prayer and meditation room, a vibrant café, and a dedicated chapel, all designed to foster a rich academic and spiritual student experience.
