Maranatha Baptist University

Maranatha Baptist University, established in 1968, stands as a private institution dedicated to an education rooted in faith and purpose. Guided by its inspiring motto, "To the Praise of His Glory," MBU provides an environment where students can pursue academic excellence while deepening their spiritual walk. From its humble beginnings, Maranatha has consistently focused on preparing graduates to make a meaningful impact in the world, embodying its core values in every facet of learning and community life.

Founded by B. Myron Cedarholm as Maranatha Baptist Bible College, the institution rapidly secured its Watertown campus and opened just three months later with 173 students and 27 faculty members. What began with rapid growth continued through various presidencies, leading to significant campus enhancements including over 40 building projects like the Cedarholm Library and modern science labs. In 2013, recognizing its expanded academic offerings and broader educational scope, the institution proudly transitioned to Maranatha Baptist University.

Today, Maranatha Baptist University is known for its comprehensive approach to higher education, underscored by its accreditation from the Higher Learning Commission since 1993. The university continually adapts to meet student needs, evidenced by the establishment of Maranatha Online and Distance Learning and the specialized Maranatha Baptist Seminary.
