Maranatha Baptist University, established in 1968, stands as a vibrant private institution guided by its inspiring motto, "To the Praise of His Glory." Originally founded by B. Myron Cedarholm as Maranatha Baptist Bible College, the institution quickly grew from its humble beginnings with 173 students and 27 faculty members. The name "Maranatha," derived from Aramaic, meaning "Lo, He cometh," reflects its foundational spiritual commitment. Over the decades, Maranatha has continuously expanded its campus and offerings, marked by over 40 building projects, including a dedicated science lab, library, and modern dining complex, demonstrating a steady commitment to student resources.

Its evolution from a Bible College to Maranatha Baptist University in 2013 signifies an expansion of its academic breadth while maintaining its core values. Accredited by the Higher Learning Commission since 1993, Maranatha provides a robust academic environment. The establishment of Maranatha Online and Distance Learning alongside the Maranatha Baptist Seminary ensures diverse learning pathways and opportunities for advanced theological study, catering to a wide range of academic and spiritual aspirations.
