Mayville State University

Mayville State University, a cornerstone of public education in North Dakota since 1889, offers a dynamic and supportive environment for students pursuing their academic aspirations. Born from the vision of the North Dakota Constitution as a normal school, Mayville State quickly established itself as a beacon of learning. Classes began in the very year of its founding, and by 1894, students were learning within the iconic Old Main building. The institution evolved significantly, transforming into Mayville State Teacher's College in 1926 when it began granting Bachelor of Arts in education, a testament to its foundational commitment to preparing future educators.

Over the decades, Mayville State broadened its academic horizons beyond teaching. The 1960s saw the introduction of its first non-teaching Bachelor of Arts degree, and the 1970s and 80s marked a pivotal expansion into vital fields like business administration and computer studies.
