The journey of MTCC began in 1964 as a satellite of Asheville-Buncombe Technical Institute, demonstrating an early commitment to local educational needs. Its true independence blossomed in 1971 when it received its own charter, establishing McDowell Technical Community College as a distinct and vital institution. Since then, MTCC has consistently evolved, expanding its facilities and programs to meet the changing demands of students and industries alike.
