Mid-Atlantic Christian University

Mid-Atlantic Christian University (MACU) stands as a beacon of faith and learning, dedicated to equipping students for lives of Christian service. Founded in 1948, this private university in North Carolina is driven by its powerful motto, "Set for the Defense of the Gospel." With a close-knit community of 172 students, MACU provides an intimate and supportive environment where individuals can deeply explore their faith and develop into effective leaders.

The university's rich history began as Roanoke Bible College, established by the visionary George and Sarah BonDurant. Recognizing a critical need for trained preachers in the region, the BonDurants laid the foundation for an institution that would consistently produce graduates committed to ministry. From its humble beginnings with just 12 full-time students, MACU quickly grew, graduating its first four-year class in 1952 and continuing that tradition every year since.

Academically, MACU is renowned for its robust biblical higher education programs. It has held accreditation from the Association for Biblical Higher Education since 1979 and from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools since 1999, ensuring a high standard of academic excellence and spiritual formation.
