Step into the rich legacy of Midland University, an institution whose roots stretch back to 1883. Initially established as Luther Academy in Wahoo, Nebraska, Midland's journey saw the parallel growth of Midland College, founded in 1887, before their historic merger in 1962 to form Midland Lutheran College. Midland University has demonstrated remarkable resilience and strategic vision, particularly during challenging times. Following a significant financial deficit and its lowest enrollment in decades (598 students) in 2009, the institution underwent a transformative period. In 2010, it rebranded as Midland University, signaling a new era of growth. This included introducing new academic and athletic programs and a compassionate welcome to students from the closing Dana College, honoring their credits and scholarships. This pivotal moment laid the groundwork for a dramatic resurgence.

Today, Midland thrives as a dynamic academic environment. The university notably introduced a program in 2011 guaranteeing participating students would graduate in four years, a testament to its commitment to timely degree completion. This strategic move, combined with a significant expansion of its athletic offerings to 27 varsity sports by 2013, fueled an extraordinary period of growth. Enrollment more than doubled from 2009 to 2013, and the university transitioned from a seven-figure deficit to substantial surpluses, demonstrating a vibrant and forward-thinking approach to higher education.
