Miles Community College

Miles Community College, established in 1939, has a remarkable history of growth fueled by unwavering community support and a deep dedication to student success. What began in a few rooms of a local high school has blossomed into a comprehensive campus, offering a vibrant learning environment and a strong sense of community. The college's journey is an inspiring narrative of progress. After nearly two decades in humble beginnings, MCC began its significant expansion in 1957 by moving into the historic Milwaukee Railroad Depot building. This spirit of advancement continued, leading to the construction of a dedicated new building in 1967 and the establishment of an independent board of trustees in 1970, solidifying its commitment to self-governance. By December 1971, the college proudly earned accreditation from the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, a pivotal milestone affirming its academic quality and institutional integrity.

Miles Community College is committed to providing valuable academic and vocational opportunities. A substantial $1.5 million grant from the Montana Coal Board in 1977 enabled the construction of a new vocational building and an expanded library learning resource center, highlighting a strong focus on practical skills and comprehensive learning support. Beyond academics, MCC prioritizes a holistic student experience, evidenced by the construction of a new student center in the early 70s, a physical education complex completed in 1980, and significant investments in student housing, including four new dormitories in 1997 and a state-of-the-art $2.3 million dormitory completed in 2003.
