Millsaps College stands as a distinguished private liberal arts institution in Jackson, Mississippi, offering an intimate and enriching educational journey. The college boasts a rich and storied past, beginning with its founding in 1890 by the visionary Confederate veteran, Major Reuben Webster Millsaps, whose generous land and financial contributions laid its foundation. Early leadership from President William Belton Murrah and fundraising efforts by Bishop Charles Betts Galloway shaped its initial years, and the college maintains its proud affiliation with the United Methodist Church, grounding its values and community spirit.

A significant chapter in Millsaps' history unfolded during World War II when it played a crucial national role. From 1943 to 1945, Millsaps was selected as one of just 131 sites for the Navy V-12 College Training Program, through which it rigorously prepared 873 Navy and Marine officer candidates. This program included robust training in engineering, pre-medical, and pre-dental fields, showcasing the college's historic capacity for demanding academic programs.
